With autumn upon us, we’re in love with the style, colours and seasonal offerings of this romantic time of year. Let’s take a look at how we can introduce some autumn wedding ideas to your Swynford Manor wedding.
Choosing your colour scheme
When planning your stylish autumn wedding, firstly consider your colour scheme. This time of year offers an abundance of wonderful colours, from rich earthy hues of red and burnt orange, through to natural shades of green, vibrant jewel tones and even delicate blends of grey and taupe. Swynford Manor offers an elegant canvas upon which to impart your chosen scheme.
Your Ceremony Scene
With your colour scheme in mind, it’s time to set the scene. Start with your wedding ceremony space, whether you choose to marry in the elegant Garden Room or the more intimate Study. Create a romantic ambience with lighting, lining your aisle with lanterns or perhaps even hollowed pumpkins. Bring the outside in with beautiful seasonal blooms and foliage, choosing one or two arrangements for the front of the room and decorating pew ends or the aisle. Autumn leaves are on hand to bring the colour in to your room. You might scatter them down the aisle or use them to create your seating plan.
Wedding Breakfast Decor
Give your guests an autumn welcome to the Garden Room. Table linen is an effective way to introduce your chosen colours, either through napkins, tablecloths or a table runner. You might even add glamour with a metallic runner – just the thing for an autumn wedding.
Once again, remember that lighting is important in autumn and winter months, so look at ways to incorporate candles or fairy lights in to your table centres, alongside some seasonal flowers. Fairy lights around branches make a great alternative to a more traditional arrangement.
When it comes to favours, consider a few edible options. Toffee apples are an autumn favourite, alongside personalised jars of popcorn, homemade berry jam, chutney or honey. Leaves and pine cones make great place cards too, as do miniature pumpkins. Once again, you might choose to add a little sparkle by spraying these with gold or silver paint or glitter. There’s nothing quite as quirky as a miniature gold pumpkin!
Delight and Entertain
A great party needs fabulous food and entertainment. When it comes to your wedding menu, the talented in-house catering team at Swynford Manor will be delighted to help you choose something seasonal and delicious, from bespoke cocktails through to an evening hog roast.
Keep your entertainment indoors, with great music throughout the day. Our chequerboard dancefloor is certainly the place to get your evening party going with a swing! It’s also a great idea to consider additional entertainment that works well inside – perhaps a close-up magician or silhouette artist.
Reveal your Wedding Cake
As well as tasting fantastic, think of your wedding cake as a key element of your wedding décor. Naked and semi-naked cakes work well in the autumn, adorned with berries and foliage. Equally, you might choose a more traditional style that is decorated with sugar blooms to reflect your colour scheme. And, of course, autumn is the time to serve a stunning chocolate creation. It’s unlikely to melt at this time of year and it’s sure to be popular with your guests.
Capture Memories
Finally, don’t forget to consider your photo opportunities in the autumn, discussing different options with your wedding photographer. If the weather is kind, be sure to step outside and take some great shots in the gardens and grounds at Swynford Manor, capturing the beauty of nature. Of course, sometimes the weather doesn’t accommodate and there are perfect backdrops inside the manor.
